That people give Joe Paterno a pass because he was a sports icon? That asshole could’ve stopped children’s lives from being ruined when he gained knowledge of what his coach was doing. It’s fucking appalling. If he was some random guy, people would have been screaming for his head. Get real, assholes. He didn’t know what to do, bullshit.

yeah but he reported what was happening and the people he went to never did anything about it. he could’ve gone further with it, but his job is to report it and that’s what he did. the other people are the ones who overlooked it and didn’t take the next steps, this guy has no relevance in my life although i am from pittsburgh but that is not my school and i had no idea who this guy was til last year. i get why it’s wrong, because he could’ve gone further to get things together but as a professional in the field of education, we are only required to report abuse of any kind and wait for them to do their job and step in. if it were me in his shoes, i would’ve followed up on it to make sure something would be stopped but he did what he was supposed to, so to blame him entirely for what went on is a bit far.
